Description

Are you a compassionate and empathetic caregiver looking to be your own boss and work from the comfort of your own home? Are you looking to become certified as a Direct Support Professional (DSP)? Independence Association's Shared Living Program is seeking individuals or families willing to share their home and provide a safe, nurturing environment for individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism. Shared Living Providers are independent contractors and are their own boss! Independence Association offers guidance and support to Shared Living Providers through regular home visits. We also offer additional assistance with access to required trainings, MaineCare billing, compliance standards, and other tasks. Independent contractors are paid based on a day rate of $130.00 per day, plus paid room and board (between $7,000 and $10,000/year).

Requirements

• Ideal provider should have a positive attitude, be flexible, creative, be able to maintain required paperwork and be willing to support individuality and personal growth.
• You must have a High School diploma or GED.
• You must complete required trainings and certifications (DSP, CPR/First Aid, etc.). All training is paid for or reimbursed.
• Must be able to pass background checks.
• You must have a home with two clear exits and a spare bedroom (minimum 8' x 10').
• Providers support individuals with day to day activities, accessing community resources and developing relationships that offer opportunities to enrich their lives and strengthen their daily living skills.
