The Residential Counselor will be responsible for engaging participants and managing the milieu in one of Bridge’s residential programs, including the Welcome Center (WC), Emergency Residence (ER), or Transitional Living Programs (TLP and SPH). Responsibilities include planning and conducting recreational and daily life activities to engage residents and maintain a safe, welcoming, and therapeutic community. The position is a float role, working a rotating schedule that includes both the first shift (8am – 4pm) and second shift (2pm – 10pm), with shift assignments changing monthly based on coverage needs. Key Responsibilities Resident Engagement: Engage youth in conversation to develop rapport and encourage participation in Bridge programs. Monitor residents' presence in and out of the program space; conduct regular rounds and checks to ensure safety. Keep the program area clean, organized, and presentable. Redirect inappropriate conversations and behaviors as necessary. Create a trauma-informed, welcoming environment for residents, monitoring music/TV volume, lights, etc., sensitive to diverse groups. Administrative Management Attend all required program meetings, including weekly supervision with the Residential Coordinator and staff meetings. Manage daily facilities tasks such as meal setup and breakdown, bedroom preparations, etc. Assist residents in maintaining household standards of cleanliness. Maintain program statistics and client records. Qualifications & Experience 1-2 years of experience working with youth aged 18-24 in areas like housing management, job development, community relations, substance abuse, or recreational counseling; supervised internship experience is also relevant. Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field is strongly preferred. Comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Enthusiastic about working with homeless transitional youth.
