IRL Technologist - Blood Bank Technology Program at American National Red Cross, Dedham, MA. Job Description Join the American Red Cross and become part of the world's largest humanitarian network. We are looking for an IRL Technologist to work in our Immunohematology Reference lab. Your responsibilities will include performing basic donor and patient testing, interpreting results, and providing reference and consultation services to hospitals. You may also perform automated and manual test procedures on blood samples. Key Responsibilities Perform telephone consultations, including receiving and completing orders for antigen-negative products. Handle the receipt, coordination, shipment, and transport of blood samples. Manage supplies and reagents, including ordering, inspection, and quality control. Maintain laboratory equipment and reagents to ensure test accuracy. Perform and interpret basic donor and/or patient testing procedures. Recognize testing irregularities, identify causes, and resolve issues or escalate as needed. Maintain accurate records in both computer and manual formats. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or Chemistry. At least 1 year of blood banking experience. Minimum MLT (ASCP) certification. State licensure if required. Good communication skills and basic computer knowledge. Ability to work in a team environment. Physical Requirements Standing, stretching, stooping, and bending for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work in walk-in refrigerators/freezers and wear protective clothing. Use of various lab equipment.
