Description:
The School Principal provides the leadership and management necessary to administer and supervise all programs, policies, and activities of the school to ensure high quality educational experiences and services for the students in a safe and enriching environment.
1. Supervise all administrative, instructional, and maintenance functions to ensure high- quality educational experiences for students in a positive, safe learning environment.
2. Work with students, parents, teachers, and community partners to promote the effective flow of communication.
3. Maintain visibility daily on the school campus and at related activities and events.
4. Keep abreast of the disciplinary milieu of the school, including but not limited to potential problems and incidents of an unusual nature.
5. Maintain and model high standards of professional conduct at all times.
6. Lead all constituent groups to understand and implement the District and school curriculum.
7. Lead, support, and supervise the implementation of Common Core Standards and standards for college and career readiness.
8. Lead, support, and supervise the preparation of students for success on standardized assessments, including but not limited to equivalent practice.
9. Lead, support, and supervise common planning and common assessments by core academic departments, regular Vertical Team meetings, and regular Cabinet and staff meetings.
10. Serve as a resource for discipline procedures.
11. Maintain the school’s budget and sign off on all invoices before submission or payment; align resources with data-driven instructional needs.
12. Interview, evaluate, and recommend candidates for hiring.
13. Lead the process of observation, evaluation, and ranking of teachers.
14. Work closely with the Curriculum and Instruction Department and Instructional Specialists to plan and implement professional development activities.
15. Provide leadership in the development and implementation of the School and District Michigan Continuous Improvement Plan, the District Strategic Plan, and the Advance Ed.
16. Use an entirely data-driven model to assess student achievement and school performance.
17. Chair weekly Cabinet and staff meetings, using an agenda that lists all topics of discussion.
18. Complete periodical reports and requests for the CPA Board of Directors; the educational service provider, Education Enrichment Services LLC; and Saginaw Valley State University, CPA’s authorizer.
19. Attend, lead, supervise, and participate in school and District activities, including but not limited to extracurricular activities and programs; conferences; athletic events; student performances; and graduation.
20. Communicate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to discuss students’ progress and address behavioral or academic issues and the community to represent the school’s progress and needs.
21. Collaborate with campus safety on implementing safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
22. Collaborate with the program evaluator on evaluating new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local, and federal regulations and school board policies.
23. Coordinate and collaborate with the school staff to develop an effective learning environment.
24. Develop, articulate, steward, and operationalize a clear vision for learning for all students and implement a strategic plan to accomplish that vision.
25. Ensure that all school stakeholders are able to articulate a clear and shared vision for learning.
26. Promote high-quality instructional practices that consistently allow for excellent instruction school wide.
27. Provide teachers with timely and constructive feedback on classroom instruction to develop teacher practice.
28. Clearly communicate learning and development goals that reflect high expectations for learning and growth, a belief that all students can learn, and a commitment to meet each student’s educational needs.
29. Develop a culture of collegial and professional relationships among staff and students that promote critical reflection, shared accountability, and continuous improvement · Manage conflict constructively at all levels.
30. Support the professional growth of staff members in a differentiated manner based on identified needs and individual goals.
31. Collect, analyze, and use multiple sources of data to guide continuous improvement in student achievement, student and staff well-being, and professional development for staff.
32. Supervise all compliance drills such as fire, severe weather, and lockdown.
33. Attend monthly Board of Directors and Saginaw Valley State University meetings.
34. Perform other duties as determined by the Chief Executive Officer.
