P osition: Valet Attendant

Type: Full-Time and Part-Time 

Location: Dayton Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 4100 W. Third Street, Dayton, OH 45428

Travel: N/A

Position Summary: Valet Attendants work directly with VA patients and visitors by providing services to valet park vehicles and provide assistance in/pot of vehicles. Valet Attendants will provide safe, high quality, VIP customer service to every customer to fulfill overall valet parking customer satisfaction for VAMC as needed.

**Must provide a current drivers record**  

Duties and Responsibilities:    

• Greet all vehicles and provide valet services to Veteran patients who request it. 

• Upon request at arrival, assist VA patients with retrieving a wheelchair from the vehicle or providing one from the VAMC. 

• Safely operate manual and standard vehicles while maintaining a valid driver's license. 

• Ensure cleanliness and safety of valet staging and parking areas and keep fire lanes cleared. 

• Utilize the designated parking lots, and overflow lots when needed, for valet parking. 

• Park/Retrieve VA patient vehicles respectively within ten (10) minutes of arrival or request. 

• Provide self-parking directions to visitors, employees, and vendors. 

• Monitor/report suspicious people, incidents, and/or hazardous situations in the valet staging/parking areas to the on-duty Valet Supervisor and VA Police as appropriate. 

• Safely park and retrieve valet-parked vehicles. 

• Provide instructions to valet-parked vehicle drivers on how to check and claim their valet-parked vehicles, including afterhours vehicle retrieval.

Required Skills and Abilities:   

• High School diploma or equivalent education

• Valid state driver's license

• Clean driver's record

• Ability to remain upright throughout an entire shift

• Effective written and oral communications skills

• U.S. Citizenship

• Fluent in English

• Pass 5-panel drug testing clearance

• Pass a criminal background check

• Prior experience in customer service or driving preferred 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
