Job Summary:

The Telecom Technician will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the Cisco VoIP Telephone System (CUCM version 12.x), Cisco UCCX (Call Center), and Unity (Voicemail System). This role involves handling user requests, troubleshooting phone issues, managing IVR scripts, and maintaining telecommunication infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco systems and a good understanding of telecommunication protocols and equipment.

Please note that this position requires passing a California Law Enforcement Telecommunications (CLETS) background check, and authorization to work in the United States (see below for specifics)

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain the Cisco VoIP Telephone System (CUCM version 12.x) , including user provisioning, troubleshooting, and system updates.
  • Support Cisco UCCX (Call Center) , including changing and updating IVR scripts to ensure smooth call flow management.
  • Administer the Unity Voicemail System , adding, deleting, archiving users, and setting up unified messaging.
  • Troubleshoot phone issues and ensure timely resolution of system problems.
  • Handle user phone configurations, including adding, deleting, and moving phones as needed.
  • Set up and maintain call handlers for effective call routing.
  • Work with Telco and cabling systems , with a strong understanding of both digital and analog lines.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair Cisco headsets .
  • Provide support for telecommunication equipment as directed by the Telecom Engineer.
  • Proactively manage telecommunication systems and participate in system improvements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Telecom Engineer.
Education and Experience:
  • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the required job duties.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in supporting Cisco Call Manager (CUCM) and UCCX systems.
  • Related certifications and accreditations preferred (e.g., Cisco certifications such as CCNA or similar).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of Cisco VoIP systems, UCCX call centers, and Unity voicemail systems.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting telecommunication issues, including VoIP and analog phone systems.
  • Ability to create, modify, and manage IVR scripts and call flow handlers.
  • Good understanding of telecommunication infrastructure (Telco and cabling) and analog lines .
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical staff.

Work Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as the employee works in an office setting, at an individual workstation, using telephone and computer

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for most of the day
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a printer/copy machine
  • This position needs to occasionally move about inside the office
  • The person in this position frequently communicates via telephone
