Overall Purpose

The Systems Engineer II in Client Computing is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining systems infrastructure, focusing on Mac support, with experience in Windows and Mobile platforms. The role involves collaborating across teams to ensure seamless system integration and performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and driving innovation to improve end-user computing experiences on Mac and Windows platforms. Ensuring the security and functionality of Mac infrastructure is key to empowering users and supporting organizational goals.

Essential Functions

  1. Manage and maintain Mac-based systems, including hardware, macOS, and related software, prioritizing performance, security, and user experience.
  2. Provide advanced technical support for Mac issues, troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
  3. Collaborate with leadership to define requirements, resolve system issues, and optimize solutions.
  4. Evaluate integration capabilities, automation options, and design solutions for feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
  5. Identify opportunities to enhance Mac system performance and user experience through emerging technologies and updates.
  6. Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems and management tools.
  7. Research software and system products to support purchasing decisions.
  8. Assess existing systems and develop strategies for improvements.
  9. Ensure system compatibility and interoperability.
  10. Conduct tests and user reviews for new and modified systems.
  11. Design configurations for business needs in end-user computing.
  12. Monitor system performance, generate reports, and analyze data.
  13. Support risk management and data security initiatives.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in system administration, engineering, or related fields with a focus on Mac environments.
  3. Expertise in macOS, Apple ecosystem, Jamf, MDM, and device management.
  4. Experience managing devices with Apple Business Manager.
  5. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, or Pearl.
  6. Strong knowledge of security principles, system planning, and software/hardware management.
  7. Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  8. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to prioritize in high-pressure environments.
  9. Knowledge of Windows, Apple OS, Intune, JAMF, Active Directory, and collaboration tools like WebEx, Zoom, MS Teams.
  10. Problem-solving skills and proficiency in MS Office 365.
  11. Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively.
  12. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. as of the hire date.
  13. Background and drug screening required.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelors degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  2. Certifications such as Apple Certified Support Professional, Jamf Certified Administrator, Microsoft AZURE, O365, SCCM, Intune, or similar.
  3. Experience developing enterprise Mac and mobile device strategies.

Compensation

Salary ranges vary by location: in Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL: $90,000 - $105,000; in New York, NY/San Francisco, CA: $105,000 - $120,000. Compensation is subject to change and depends on various factors including experience and location. Candidates are also eligible for bonuses and benefits.

Physical Requirements

Standard office environment, primarily sedentary work involving extensive computer use. Occasional physical activity required. Must be able to lift 10 pounds and communicate effectively.
