Summer Camp Counselor

Kids Connection Elementary in Foster City has job openings for Summer / Seasonal Camp Counselors to work at our camp program with elementary school aged children (Kindergarten - 5th grade) from Mid June- August. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to start their career in education, or someone who is looking for a rewarding job outside of school!

The Camp Counselor will be responsible for implementing appropriate learning activities and experiences designated to fulfill student’s potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The Recreational Counselor will be respectful of children and parents and ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Counselors ensure the safety of the children as they take them through a schedule of activities that includes: science projects, cooking, arts & crafts, outdoor sports, reading, board games, and more!

Summer Recreational Counselors also have the opportunity to continue to work as an Extended Day / Year Round counselor during the school year based on performance during the summer and availability in the school year (September-Beginning of June from 2-6 PM). Tuition reimbursement available for Child Development courses taken.

Must be able to work Monday to Friday for a full day shift between the hours of 8 am - 6 pm (with appropriate breaks).

Pay Range: $17.50-$19.00

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old by June 1st, 2024

• Preferred: High school diploma (or GED), College coursework in Education or Child Development preferred, Work experience in a school, camp, or childcare

• Pediatric CPR certification required (can be obtained during onboarding)

• Current Lifescan and pass the licensing requirement with government authorities.

Qualifications and Duties:

• Implement daily lesson and activity plans and run age appropriate projects

• Ensure that the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of children in the program are met and maintained

• Establish routines and provide positive guidance for all camp participants, inclusive of a range of skills, abilities and/or age

• Participate fully and enthusiastically in all camp program activities, both on and off campus, during project time and active play, indoors and outdoors

• Provide both group and individual support to campers across diverse age groups, ability levels, and support needs

• Collaborate with Junior Counselor staff to implement programming, supporting and coaching as needed and discussed with camp leadership

• Supervise all Camp program participants to ensure their health and safety at all times and locations of the program day

• Practice clear and effective communication with all camp participants, including camp participants, staff, and members of the community

• Maintain a collaborative, professional and positive relationship with all members of the staff

• Provide exemplary customer service to each camper, family, and guardian at all times

• Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times

• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable

• Must have experience working with children

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Good physical health able to lift-up to 60 lbs

• Must be self-motivated with a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
