Software & Automation Engineer

Position Overview
We're seeking a hands-on, tech-savvy professional with strong IT and programming skills and at least five years of experience in a manufacturing environment. This role bridges the gap between office and plant floor operations, supporting systems that ensure smooth and efficient performance. Responsibilities include developing custom applications, supporting PLC/HMI systems, configuring servers and industrial PCs, and working with SQL databases. Some local travel is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and support custom applications for industrial environments
• Configure and maintain servers, PCs, and network infrastructure
• Support and troubleshoot PLC and HMI systems
• Work with SQL databases to manage and optimize data-driven applications
• Assist in creating dashboards, reporting tools, and historian systems
• Contribute to technical documentation such as control narratives and testing plans
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Provide on-site support and commissioning as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to IT systems, automation, or process improvement
• Proficiency in SQL, including writing and optimizing queries
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, C#, or C++
• Familiarity with PC/server setup, networking, and troubleshooting
• Exposure to PLC and HMI systems (programming experience is a plus but not required)
• Experience with data reporting tools or historian systems
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently
• Willingness to travel locally for project support
