Organizational Summary Founded in 1916, Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club is located in Tampa's most prestigious residential neighborhood and is the Tampa Bay area's most prestigious private club. The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis courts, swimming, a fitness center, and clubhouse for member entertaining, dining and banquets. Our main focus is providing our members and their guests with outstanding facilities and the highest standard of service.
Job Summary The focus of this position is on ensuring that our members are provided the highest standard of service while visiting our dining establishment(s). Primary responsibility falls on providing attentive, friendly and efficient service and interaction to the members and their guests in their assigned section(s). Prior training and/or server experience, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well under pressure, and familiarity with rudimentary cooking terminology are basic job requirements. Servers must be professional, detail-oriented, and courteous; must be able to tolerate a moderate amount of moving and/or lifting; and must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and special events as business dictates.
Essential Duties - Takes food and beverage orders, carries trays and serves food and drinks. Clears and cleans tables.
- Light food preparation, familiarity with basic cooking terminology and skills.
- Prepares takeout orders, wraps menu items.
- Performs opening station setup and prep work.
- Provides attention to members and their guests as soon after being seated as possible.
- Distributes menus and wine lists. Knowledge of food and wine pairing. 2
- Pours and refills wine, coffee, water and other beverages served with and after the meal.
- Cleans all assigned work areas in front and back of the house.
- Advises supervisor of any member or guest complaints as soon as they occur.
- Assists in closing functions by performing various tasks such as removing linen, busing glasses, dishes, and silverware.
- Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
- Consistently follows sanitation-related requirements, including those related to personal hygiene.
- Places orders with kitchen; informs cooks about any special cooking instructions.
- Enters order in point-of-sale (POS) system and presents the bill.
- Performs clean-up and closing duties.
- Assists with special events as needed.
- Assists in training other food and beverage staff as needed.
- Attends staff meetings including pre-serve (line-up) sessions and in-service training.
- Maintains a professional appearance and complies with uniform and dress codes.
- Performs other related duties that may be assigned by a manager.
Requirements
Physical Demands - Must be able to reach, push, pull, bend, and stoop; must be able to perform repetitive motion activities (walking, standing, kneeling, bending, crouching); excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to comfortably lift and carry trays weighing up to 30 pounds, and stand on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to speak and hear clearly in English.
- Close and distance vision.
- Identify and distinguish colors.
- Frequent walking with some standing at times
Will walk for long periods of time, possibly extended distances. - Frequently lifts/carries up to 25 lbs; occasionally lifts/carries up to 50 lbs.
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills.
- Able to reach hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly
Minimum Qualifications - Meet the minimum age requirements for this position; the legal age to serve alcohol in the state of Florida is 18 years old.
- Three to six months customer service related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Within 90 days of hire, must obtain and maintain current certification(s) in: ANSI Florida Food Handler and Florida Responsible Vendor Server Training.
Preferred Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of work experience in a full service restaurant or hospitality related industry.
- Experience in a fine dining/upscale restaurant atmosphere.
