Job Description
At Bellisio Foods, the R&D group is responsible for developing products from concept to commercialization.The Senior Food Technologist/Scientist plays a key role in delivering excellence in product development and production quality execution to ensure flavor, functionality and innovation.In addition to developing products, this role must bring meat expertise to support the product development team with meat ingredient selection, purchasing, and reformulation.
Essential Functions
- Lead development of new and existing formulas across our frozen food products, while delivering on quality, cost, and commercialization expectations with minimal supervision
- Serve as the meat expert for the Bellisio R&D team, providing meat science knowledge to other technologists/scientists during product development process
- Strong knowledge of scientific process and application of experimental design in product development
- Partner with meat Purchasing team and external suppliers to reformulate existing ingredients
- Agility in delivering exceptional product quality on aggressive timelines.A sense of urgency with high quality output is essential to the success of this position
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, food/meat science, breading and batters
- Ability to translate internal, consumer and customer direction into products that meet the financial, flavor, and functionality goals
- Uphold best practices for bench top development, formulations, and lab standards
- Strong professional integrity and ethics
- Work closely with Regulatory and Labeling & Specifications teams to ensure all regulatory, nutritional, labeling goals are achieved through development
- Collaborate with Commercialization and Operation teams to ensure an efficient translation of product formulas to Bellisio Foods production facilities
- 20-40% travel required to production facilities and customer presentations
- Other job responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- 3-8 years of product development and/or commercialization experience with a meat products company
- BS Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Engineering (Food/Process/Chemical) or related field, MS preferred
- Frozen food manufacturing experience is a plus
