Job Details Job Summary:
The Senior Interior Designer collaborates with the design and project leadership teams to develop innovative interior design solutions. With over ten years of experience, this role involves leading projects of various scales, demonstrating advanced design leadership, and establishing a strong presence in the interior design community.
Job Responsibilities:
**Communication and Collaboration**
- Demonstrates expertise in all project phases including conceptual design, schematic design, development, documentation, and administration. Effectively communicates this knowledge to both internal team members and external consultants.
- Maintains frequent communication with project teams to ensure smooth information flow. May lead as the Lead Designer or manage interior design teams.
- Actively participates in both virtual and in-person project meetings, leading sessions focused on coordination with consultants and internal teams.
- Exhibits strong written communication skills and proficiency with virtual meeting tools.
- Prepares meeting notes in standard formats and maintains vigilance in reviewing work and addressing concerns with project leadership.
- Participates in work and scheduling strategy formulation, adhering to established project schedules.
- Adheres to digital file management practices and promotes these within the team.
- Coordinates work with project teams and sub-consultants, and prepares and delivers client presentations, leading specific segments as needed.
- Demonstrates effective time management skills across multiple projects and reviews deliverables for design intent, budget management, and cost control.
**Design, Visualization, and Space Planning**
- Shows creativity in design and adapts solutions to various building types, integrating interior design with architecture.
- Implements design directions mindful of construction methods and engineering coordination, and mentors mid and junior staff on these practices.
- Applies space planning conventions, including legal clearances and ergonomic considerations, to design solutions.
- Selects and presents design schemes to internal and client teams, demonstrating knowledge of product functionality, pricing, and durability. Utilizes design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe, and shares expertise with the team.
- Reviews and approves finishes and materials based on functionality, aesthetics, and cost, delegating selection tasks as appropriate.
- Leads client presentations and supports business development by creating visual presentation materials in coordination with marketing teams.
- Keeps current with design trends and demonstrates leadership through industry forums and conferences.
- Manages FF&E selections and presents schemes, coordinating with marketing teams for business development efforts and proposal writing.
**Delineation, Detailing, and Documentation**
- Oversees development of project documentation from concept to construction, including detailed drawings and finish lists. Delegates tasks to junior staff as needed.
- Ensures adherence to industry best practices and project-specific technical standards. Reviews documents for compliance with graphic conventions and coordinates site observations.
- Performs calculations and budget tasks, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- Manages resource materials and FF&E specifications, prepares bid documents, and makes financial recommendations.
**Construction Administration**
- Provides leadership during value engineering, manages RFIs, and oversees the shop drawing and submittal process.
- Coordinates with construction managers and contractors throughout the project phases, attending regular construction meetings and working with the internal team.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in design required.
- Over 10 years in interior design with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- NCIDQ Certification Required
- Advanced skills in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software.
- Professional registration preferred.
