The Recruitment and Outreach Specialist is responsible for managing time and resources to generate interest in prospective students of WCC programs. This position will conduct a high quantity of prospect phone, email, and text contacts to connect with prospective students, and conduct follow-up activity with unresolved and future class applicants. This position promotes the College to the public and provides general admissions counseling and assistance to prospective students, which includes relationship-building and maintenance with key external and internal contacts. Cultivating and maintaining relationships with faculty, deans, and program chairs is critically important in this role. The expectation is cross-departmental collaboration as it relates to programmatic presentations, divisional tours, updating information needed for recruitment and marketing material, and on/off campus events.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maximizing student enrollment in meeting recruitment goals and objectives consistent with the College’s strategic priorities.
  • Act as a consultative resource to provide students and the greater community with information on WCC. Represent the College both on and off-campus to prospective students, families, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process.
  • Initiate and develop relationships as a point of contact with high school administrators, counselors, teachers, and other members of the educational community, and throughout the region.
  • Manage inquiries and applicants in the TargetX CRM to achieve prompt contact and accurately and completely explain educational programs, expected outcomes, student services, and financial consideration to students, parents, and educators.
  • Conduct ongoing and timely follow-up communication with prospective students and applicants in the form of written communication, phone calls, e-mails, and texts to determine their level of interest, educational needs, and to resolve issues.
  • Compile recruitment data from TargetX and other academic records in effort to create reports in making data- driven decisions. Accurately forecast projected new students on a periodic basis for department leadership.
  • Help facilitate the enrollment process which includes coordination with other internal departments not limited to admissions, student records, academic departments, advising, on-boarding, financial aid, and success coaching.
  • Coordinate with designated staff to facilitate recruitment and to support applicant yield programming such as information sessions, counselors update luncheons, etc.
  • Assist the Welcome Center team during peak periods – to include answering the telephone, student check-in process, answering admissions and general registration questions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Hours/Schedule:  Day, evening, and some Saturdays.

Work Environment:  On and off campus, in-person, and virtual. Environment is fast-paced and continuously changing.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of direct recruitment or related recruitment experience. Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Sincere interest in helping others achieve life goals with enthusiasm for the college experience and an understanding of the transformative role it plays in the lives of students.
  • Excellent written communication and oral presentation skills.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in presentation and public speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with both faculty and student populations.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Skill in the use of computerized systems and databases, with familiarity with Customer Relations Management systems and its functions.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, and superior organizational, time management and problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other areas and successfully lead projects through completion.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) and/or (English/Arabic).
  • Higher Education experience.
  • Recruitment experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team.
