Management duties include planning fiscal budgets, creating and directing departmental goals and objectives, and administering and reviewing personnel matters. Radiology Manager assures the quality and quantity of work accomplished throughout the Radiology Departments. Upholds the principles of WIHCC's Vision, Mission, and Value Statements. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information at all times. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Maintains regular attendance and punctuality. Improves staff effectiveness by motivating, coaching, counseling, training staff and especially the Radiologic Technologist Supervisors to be effective leaders. Plans, organizes, and implements new modalities in the departments. Oversees the Radiologic Technologist Supervisors, and ensures that schedules, work allocation, orientation, and training occur efficiently and thoroughly for all radiology department personnel. Ensures appropriate training Develops measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals and objectives. Gathers and synthesizes information related to budget, including supplies, services, and staffing, and prepares, presents and then manages the annual budgets for the Radiology Department at both locations. Identifies needs related to budget, space and manpower for delivery of services and coordinates programs with other clinical departments. Responsible for ensuring that invoices are accurate and processed in a timely manner. Responsible for the procurement of imaging equipment, accessories, warranty and preventative maintenance. Responsible for gathering, synthesizing, and reporting data related to the Radiology Department's quality, productivity, or other key measures. Designs and implements the facilities imaging strategy, procedures, equipment, policies and procedures according to state & federal policies and ensuring compliance with privacy laws. Assures Radiology Department protocols, policies and procedures are in compliance with the Joint Commission, CMS and any other relevant regulatory standards. Performs routine biannual review of policies and procedures, and ensures any updates are shared with departmental staff. Plans and directs departmental goals, updates departmental policies, procedures and training of staff. Along with department supervisors, makes selections for staffing including direct hires and contractors, when necessary. Coordinates with department supervisors to ensure a schedule of regular preventive maintenance (PM) of imaging equipment occurs in a timely manner. Assures peer review with Radiologists and updates radiological techniques in accordance with quarterly PM and Physicists' recommendations. Maintains a performance improvement program with statistical reports submitted to Chief Medical Officer and PI Director on a regular basis. Maintains radiation safety measures and records for assurance of full compliance with Radiation Safety regulations. Ascertains that persons occupationally exposed to radiation are in full compliance with radiation safety regulations. Maintains a master record for all locations regarding exams performed (all modalities), number of patients examined and number of exposures made. Reports and provides information to Chief Medical Officer on an annual basis, or as requested. Ensures appropriate maintenance and personnel contracts are reviewed and updated with General Services Department on an annual basis. Implements departmental long-range plans to comply with the Joint Commission accreditation standards. Recommends change and improvement relating to services, staffing, operations and expansion. Represents the MI department at institutional meetings/activities and to external agencies and organizations as assigned; i.e., Department Head, Strategic Planning, Rural meetings, etc.) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by conducting research, attending seminars, educational workshops, classes and conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing networks; participating in professional societies; conferring with representatives of contracting agencies and related organizations. Requires completion of tasks or duties assigned by a supervisor. Upholds all principles of confidentiality and patient care to the fullest extent. Adheres to all professional and ethical behavior standards of the healthcare industry. Adheres to WIHCCs Personnel Policies and Procedures, departmental policies, rules, and regulations. Interacts in an honest, trustworthy and dependable manner with patients, employees, visitors, and vendors. Possesses cultural awareness and sensitivity. Maintains compliance with all Human Resources requirements. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Graduate from accredited two to four-year Institute of Radiologic Technology, has a Radiology certificate, and is registered by a nationwide organization (ARRT) with five years of relevant Radiological experience. Three years of supervisory experience within the Radiology field. BLS certification (can obtain upon hire). Bilingual skills in English and Navajo language preferred. Must maintain a valid unrestricted and insurable driver's license. Must successfully pass a background investigation and maintain suitable requirements for a Child Care position. This position is considered as a Child Care position, which requires a satisfactory background check investigation and is subject to the requirements of the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act, as amended (henceforth referred as the ICPFVP Act). Knowledge, Skills, Ability Knowledge of technology and industry advances, as the job requires researching new equipment and procedures as technology advances. Knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices and techniques including concepts of accumulated dosage and genetic changes, effects of radiation technique on living organism, patient, and operator to assure adequate safeguards. Knowledge of physical principles as related to sound generation and transmission characteristics in Sonography. Familiarity with signal processing (A, B, M-modes, transducer types, etc.). Knowledge of basic physics, which include the concepts of energy, electric power, electric circuits and the construction, function and operating limitations of various types of diagnostic imaging equipment. Knowledge of basic life support and first aid practices. Knowledge of the properties of X-rays and sound wave transmission to understand the operation of all imaging equipment, for monitoring equipment, modifying standard procedures and determining when maintenance and/or repair is required. Knowledge of exposure technique formulation for determining technical factors to control density, contrast, distortion, gray scales, and modulation. Knowledge of how screens, buckeys, collimators, filters, grids, cones and other accessories affect image production of high diagnostic quality/quantity with minimum retakes. Knowledge & understanding of the science of Ultrasound technology, Computerized Tomography technology and Radiological technology. Knowledge of strong work ethics in the workplace. Knowledge of basic application of confidentiality. Knowledge of basic computer skills, e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to provide effective leadership and motivation to staff. Ability to be dependable in attendance and job performance. Ability to meet attendance, overtime (if necessary), and other reliability requirements of the job. Ability to accept and learn from feedback. Ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal. Ability to provide exemplary customer service at all times. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level. Work environment may involve exposure to physical risks, such as blood borne pathogens and operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. As required by P.L. 93-638, absolute preference will be given to qualified Navajo applicants.
