Highlands County | Direct Hire | Senior Leadership Role
A growing municipality seeks a seasoned Director of Infrastructure & Municipal Services to oversee a full-service public works department. This impactful role includes strategic oversight of water and wastewater, roads and stormwater systems, solid waste, and capital planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead operations and budgeting for multiple public works divisions
Evaluate infrastructure systems and plan capital improvements
Ensure regulatory compliance at all levels
Present detailed plans to leadership and elected officials
Manage specifications, permitting, and major project bids
Engage with stakeholders and resolve public concerns
Serve in emergency response coordination and mutual aid
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Engineering, or equivalent experience
4+ years of leadership experience in Public Works or Utilities
Deep knowledge of municipal water/wastewater systems and infrastructure
Skilled in budgeting, compliance, and interagency collaboration
Excellent communicator with strong organizational skills
Bonus if you have:
Dual Water/Wastewater licenses
Stormwater Operator (Class "C") certification
MOT, NIMS, and Trench Safety credentials
