Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled Project Engineer to lead and support capital investment projects related to fixed assets in Waverly, IA. This hands-on role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage equipment relocation, optimization, and new installations from concept to closeout. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead capital projects from feasibility through execution and final reporting
  • Ensure safe, hygienic, and efficient design and implementation of new equipment and systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Manage procurement, FATs, permitting, installation, and commissioning activities
  • Uphold regulatory standards (OSHA, GMP, HACCP, 3A, NGHE)
  • Promote continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
  • Ensure successful start-up, operator training, documentation, and handover of projects

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 1–3 years of project engineering experience, preferably in food, dairy, pharma, or consumer goods industries
  • Strong understanding of plant design, construction, powder handling, and sanitary engineering standards
  • Experience with project management tools (MS Project, SAP-PS, AutoCAD, Visio)
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience leading internal and external teams
  • Willingness to work onsite in Waverly, IA and travel up to 5% for testing and inspections

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of TPM (Autonomous and Early Equipment Management pillars)
  • Understanding of CAPEX budgeting and financial analysis
  • Familiarity with hygienic design standards and food safety compliance
  • Experience managing equipment contracts, permitting, and regulatory processes
