Job Description

Connect. Build. Revolutionize. Ready to help redefine skilled labor hiring? We're seeking an exceptional Product Designer who's ready to own the entire user experience at ToolBelt. As our dedicated design expert, you'll be the driving force behind creating intuitive, impactful interfaces that define our product identity and delight our users.

In this pivotal role, you'll straddle the worlds of design and product, collaborating directly with engineering and leadership to transform ideas into reality. You won't just execute designs—you'll help shape product strategy, conduct user research, and make critical decisions that influence our roadmap.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and iterate user interfaces for both web and mobile applications
  • Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize design solutions
  • Apply and contribute to a shared design system for consistency and scalability
  • Revise designs based on feedback from product managers, users, and engineers
  • Conduct visual QA and ensure final implementation aligns with design intent
  • Occasionally assist with light web content updates (forms, static pages, etc.)

Product & Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers throughout feature development
  • Participate in sprint planning and daily stand-ups, helping scope and define features
  • Translate user requirements into clear design deliverables
  • Use Jira (or similar tools) to track progress, document design decisions, and manage feedback
  • Support feature testing and validation alongside QA and implementation teams

User Research & Testing

  • Plan and conduct competitive analysis and usability testing
  • Create personas, user flows, and storyboards to communicate design thinking
  • Gather user feedback to inform design improvements and product updates
  • Leverage usage data and research insights to guide design iterations

We’re looking for a motivated, high achieving Product Designer with:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience as a UI/UX Designer
  • Strong proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, draw.io, Balsamiq)
  • Familiarity with project management platforms like Jira or similar
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (design, product, engineering)
  • Comfortable managing your own workflow and presenting work to stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills in a remote, distributed team setting
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for user-centered design
  • Experience and enthusiasm for working in a fast pace startup environment

Our Product Designer might also have:

  • Familiarity with front-end concepts for both web and mobile applications
  • Experience with usability testing platforms or product analytics tools
  • Background working in Agile environments
  • Contributions to design systems or documentation libraries
