Overview:

The Structural Draftsman is responsible for crate the 3D model based on client design drawing/Review 3D model & shop drawing comply with project spec . This position is a technical role. The role directly reports to the Project Engineering Lead and routinely interacts with Fabrication Operation Specialist.

Responsibilities:

• Work under the instruction of the Project Engineering Lead to complete 3D Model in standards of time, cost and quality.
• Resolve and review all 3D & detail drawings .
• Raise RFIs, PCN and IINs.
• Complete 3d Model using Tekla.
• Complete Shop Drawings in Tekla.
• Develop skills and knowledge to prepare drawing, sketches and layout using basic drafting engineering techniques.
• Pick-ups redline drawings and update 3D Model and Shop drawings.

Local Requirements:

Key Responsibilities:

Review and Resolve Drawings : Review and resolve all 3D and detail drawings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

Raise RFI's, PCNs, and IIN's : Identify any drawing or design issues and raise Requests for Information (RFIs), Potential Change Notices (PCNs), and Issued Information Notices (IINs) as necessary to address and resolve them.

Complete 3D Modeling : Utilize Tekla software to create and complete 3D models of structural components, incorporating all necessary details and specifications provided by the engineering team.

Shop Drawing Preparation : Prepare detailed shop drawings using Tekla, ensuring they accurately represent the 3D models and provide precise information for fabrication and construction.

Skill Development : Continuously develop skills and knowledge in preparing drawings, sketches, and layouts using basic drafting engineering techniques.

Update 3D Models and Shop Drawings : Actively collaborate with the engineering team, address redline drawings, and make necessary updates to the 3D models and shop drawings to reflect any design changes or modifications.

Quality Assurance : Perform thorough checks and reviews of drawings and models to verify their accuracy and compliance with project specifications, design standards, and quality assurance processes.

Coordination and Communication : Collaborate closely with the engineering team, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the drafting and modeling process.

Documentation : Maintain proper documentation of all drawings, revisions, and communications related to the drafting and modeling activities.

Qualifications:

• Typically 5 years since first degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
• Tertiary engineering qualification or suitable experience.
• Knowledge in Tekla 3D Modelling
• Knowledge in checking structure steel shop drawing
• Experience in the fabrication industry or with steel structures is an advantage.
• Proficiency in using Tekla software for 3D modeling and shop drawing preparation.
• Experience in resolving and reviewing 3D and detail drawings in a fabrication or structural engineering environment.
• Familiarity with structural components, construction methods, and codes & and standards.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in producing high-quality drawings and models.
• Knowledge of basic drafting engineering techniques and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with the engineering team and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced fabrication environment.
