Job Description
Summary To perform various clerical duties, which may include but not limited to answering phones, filing, maintenance of medical records, clinical logs, delivery of messages within clinic, greeting patients and accurate data entry. Also to include clinical duties such as phlebotomy, waived lab testing, drug screening, EKG, and other screenings as needed. To resolve the concerns/complaints with patients/families for any issues in the clinic setting and to communicate appropriately when resolution cannot be attained. To maintain confidentiality of all patient related information. Maintain a calm, professional demeanor at all times in clinic. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities - Greets, identifies, and assists patients/visitors in the check-in/out process in a professional and compassionate manner. 20 %
- Appropriately labels specimens with unique identifiers, follows established procedures for collecting specimens for laboratory analysis. Performs12-LEAD EKG tests according to established protocol, entering required patient identification information and transmitting results as requested for immediate attention and patient care. 20 %
- Obtains and maintains accurate patient demographics, billing, and medical record documentation. Keeps current on software/equipment utilized in area. Maintains accurate, legible records and/or logs as required. 20 %
- Works well with clinic provider and responds to orders in a timely manner. 20 %
- Knowledgeable and adheres to all policies and procedures. 10 %
- Contributes to the efficient operation of the clinic and maintains an orderly workplace. 10 %
Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: 2 Years of College Preferred.
Minimum: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required. Completion Phlebotomy Course - Accredited Required.
Experience Preferred: Healthcare/Medical-Clinical Preferred.
Minimum: 6 months Phlebotomy Experience in Lieu of Course Requirement Required.
Licensure, Registration, Certification Minimum: License/Certification/Registries (valid for the State of MS): Any applicable certifications. i.e. drug screening, breath alcohol if job requires these skills.
Special Skills Minimum: Successful completion Phlebotomy and 12-Lead EKG testing courses. Type 45 wpm. Must be able to operate various office equipment such as PC, multi-line phone system, copier, facsimile, and printer. Must have good phone and public relations skills. Word and Excel helpful.
