JOB SUMMARY:\n \n \n \n \n
\n \n \n\n \n \n The Summer Nurse Externship is a 10-week program designed for nursing students entering their final year. The program begins with a two-week orientation including both classroom and clinical components, in which the nurse extern performs basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures. The Nurse Extern is assigned to a Registered Nurse throughout the Externship to perform basic bedside care and selected nursing procedures. Nurse Externs partner with an RN to learn and demonstrate physical assessment skills, and learn and demonstrate routine basic care skills (bathing, safety, and hygiene activities). This is for a nursing student entering their final year of an accredited nursing program.\n \n \n \n \n

\n \n\n \n \n
\n \n\n \n \n Registered Nurses who join this fast-paced work environment will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care to floor-level trauma-surgical patients. This 14 bed, highly specialized Trauma and Emergency General Surgery unit will create opportunities for the RN to collaborate with a variety of interdisciplinary health care teams to enhance positive patient outcomes.\n \n \n
