About the Position: Reporting to the Department Manager, the Library Assistant performs a variety of essential tasks to support the library’s operations and services. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy providing outstanding customer service, organizing materials, and contributing to a thriving community space. This is an entirely in-person position. Your performance will be reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with library policies, procedures, and standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide outstanding customer service by assisting customers with inquiries and locating materials. Perform tasks such as charging and discharging library materials, inspecting items for damage, and repairing them as needed. Help patrons navigate the online catalog, locate items, and direct them to the shelves. Participate in opening and closing procedures at various branch locations. Maintain the library’s collection by shelving materials, shifting books as needed, and conducting inventory. Assist with inter-library loan processes to ensure patrons have access to a broad range of resources. Enter new patron information into the Polaris/Leap ILS and verify necessary personal information. Record usage statistics and contribute to overall library organization. Perform other duties as assigned to support library operations. Flexibility to work daytime, evening, and weekend shifts at all library locations. Fluency in a language other than English, particularly Spanish, is highly desirable. Previous library work experience is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements: Ability to push book carts and perform shelving tasks, including lifting and shifting books. Comfortable working on your feet and engaging in hands-on tasks as needed.
