STANDARD HOURS: Up to 12 hours per week. Flexibility in schedule is required for day, night or weekend classes as needed.

SALARY: $45.00 per class hour contracted

POSITION SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instruction and assessment of learning outcomes.
  • Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Maintain accurate student records and communication.
  • Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals. This includes being accessible to students outside of scheduled classroom time.
  • Provide educational leadership and work effectively with faculty, administration, and campus support staff.
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.
  • Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities will be discussed as needs arise.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for orientation and calibration of lab/clinical instructors
  • Collaborate with clinical coordinator on and off campus clinical rotations.
  • Responsible for didactic instruction of program courses with current knowledge of specific subjects assigned to teach.
  • Implement teaching concepts using current educational methodology.
  • Responsible for monitoring student academic progress including remediation when below competency
  • Participate in program advisory committee meetings
  • Participate in student orientation sessions and application criteria
  • Participate in updates to program manual and externship manual.
  • Participate in team function that include team meetings, program review, statewide curriculum meetings, curriculum modification meetings, team action plans, team assessment plans.
  • Contribute to the self-study documentation for Commission on Dental Accreditation including yearly updates to program documentation.
  • Operate clinical dental and laboratory equipment
  • Travel up to 10 days per semester to the Affiliation Offices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Occupational Experience as a dental assistant - minimum of 3 years within the last 5 years.
  • Certified by the Dental Assisting National Board
  • Occupational Safety Health Administration Bloodborne Pathogen Training within 1 year.
  • CPR - Current: Health Care Provider
  • Active involvement in the Dental Community
  • Professional Association Participation
  • Manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience with adult learners is preferred
  • Expand Functions Dental Auxiliary experience, preferred

  • Extended Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer or attending meetings
  • Mobility: Ability to move around the campus to attend meetings and events
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in using hands and fingers to handle or operate office equipment, tools, or controls.
  • Visual and Auditory: Ability to read documents and communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Light Lifting: Capability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
