SmartTalent Staffing is looking to hire a Part-time Bookkeeper for a client located in Renton. Ideal candidate will have experience in construction bookkeeping , a strong understanding of construction taxes , and proficiency with QuickBooks (Details below).

PAY : $27-$30

TITLE & SHIFT : Part-time Bookkeeper, Day Shift

LOCATION : Renton, WA

SCHEDULE : Flexible schedule 10-20 hours/week

OBJECTIVE:

Part-Time Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing invoicing, processing payroll, handling taxes, and ensuring the company remains compliant with licensing requirements. The position is part-time with flexible hours and offers the opportunity to work closely with the management team.

JOB DUTIES:

· Invoicing: Prepare and send customer invoices accurately and on time, ensuring all necessary project details are included. Follow up on overdue invoices and assist with collections as needed.

· Payroll Processing: Process payroll for employees and subcontractors, ensuring all calculations are accurate and tax withholding is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

· Construction Taxes: Prepare and file various construction-specific tax returns , including sales tax, contractor tax filings, and other relevant filings for the construction industry. Ensure compliance with industry-specific tax laws.

· Licensing and Compliance: Manage business and contractor licenses, ensuring all necessary renewals and filings are completed on time. Assist in maintaining compliance with local and state regulations.

· QuickBooks Management: Utilize QuickBooks to record financial transactions, reconcile accounts, and generate financial reports. Maintain accurate records for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.

· Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to assist management in understanding the company’s financial position. Help track project costs and budget adherence.

· Other Accounting Tasks: Assist with financial record-keeping, filing, and general administrative duties related to the accounting department.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Good attendance is an absolute must!

· Proven experience as a bookkeeper , preferably within the construction industry .

· Strong understanding of construction taxes and compliance, including experience with sales tax, contractor tax filings, and other industry-specific tax laws.

Proficient in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).

· Experience managing payroll , invoicing , tax preparation , and licensing requirements.

· High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

· Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience working in a construction or contracting environment.

· Familiarity with construction project cost tracking and job costing.

· Knowledge of construction accounting software or job costing software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) is a plus.

· Associates degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field.
