Job Title: Crane Operator
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Crane Operator to join our dynamic team. You will initially undergo training to learn inventory locations, shadow experienced trainers, and get hands-on experience with crane operations. This role requires a high level of physical activity and the ability to work in varying weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Learn and memorize inventory locations and color codes for steel.
• Operate indoor and outdoor cranes efficiently.
• Perform general housekeeping and maintenance tasks as needed.
• Assist in loading flatbed trailers and railcars, including rigging and securing loads.
• Complete shipping reports and bills of lading accurately.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Potentially train to operate additional equipment, such as saws or forklifts.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in reading a tape measure, verified by a test or reference.
• Ability to memorize color codes and inventory locations.
• Experience in a heavy industrial or construction environment.
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Prior experience with overhead crane operations is highly desirable.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Construction or manufacturing experience of 1-2 years.
• Familiarity with warehouse inventory, material handling, and equipment operation.
• Ability to work safely around heavy equipment and in a construction-like setting.

Work Environment

The workplace features gravel flooring with uneven surfaces, emphasizing safety and caution in daily operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Petersburg, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
