Summary/Objective

The Ophthalmic Phlebotomist Assistant supports the needs of the Retina team with focus on the fluorescein angiography process at the Elmhurst, Naperville and South Barrington locations to ensure a positive experience and clinical outcome for our patients. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills including starting IVs and blood draws. This role is an part-time entry level position with opportunity for growth within our Retina sub-specialty at Kovach Eye Institute.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for the assistance of injecting contrast medium utilizing a butterfly needle while starting IV infusions of Ophthalmic drugs
• Responsible for the capturing of retinal imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders
• Serves as a back-up for any needs of the Retina team

• Serves as a back-up for any needs of the Retina team
• Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures along with complying with legal regulations

Travel Required

• Weekly travel between multiple Chicagoland offices is expected (Elmhurst, South Barrington, Naperville and Lincolnwood)

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Phlebotomy certification

Additional Experience Preferred (but not required)

• Spanish and or Polish Speaking
• CPR/ ACL certification

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday

Other duties – This position, and all others at Kovach Eye Institute, may be modified at any time. To ensure operational efficiency and meet the changing needs of our patients and our Practice, other duties may be assigned as needed.
