Medical Billing Specialist Job Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing and collections processes for the medical practice. This role requires excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. The Medical Billing Specialist will process and track claims, ensure accuracy and timeliness in the billing process, and provide excellent customer service to both patients and providers. Stay up to date with insurance medical policies and guidelines.

Medical Billing Specialist Duties and Responsibilities

• Input patient information into the practice’s billing software


• Submit electronic/paper claims to insurance companies and follow up on unpaid claims


• Resolve any issues that arise with claims or payments


• Answer patient inquiries regarding billing and payment


• Maintain accurate records of billing and collection activities


• Generate monthly reports to track billing and collection performance


• Print Insurance Remittance Advice Reports


• Enter all processed insurance claims for payment and patient responsibility balances


• Other Duties as assigned

Medical Billing Specialist Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Experience with medical billing software, such as Veradigm


• Excellent customer service skills


• Good problem-solving and analytical skills


• Able to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently


• Knowledge of medical coding and billing terminology
