San Luis Valley Health is seeking a full-time Medical Billing & Collections Specialist to join our team! The Medical Billing & Collections Specialist provides submission of clean claims to payers for accurate payments of services provided by SLV Health.

What You'll Need:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Previous medical billing experience, preferred.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintains current knowledge of billing rules and stays current on rules as enacted by Colorado Division of Worker’s Compensation.
  • Creates insurance aging reports using billing software to identify unpaid insurance claims.
  • Maintain current knowledge of billing for third party payers’ if/when worker’s compensation is denied.
  • Verify payments are paid according to contract of payer, including state fee schedule.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information.
  • Enter all account information such as telephone calls from insurance, patient, correspondence or any other form of communication into billing account.
