Medal Model Maker, up to $28.39/hr, Madison Heights, MI

Minimum Requirements :

• 1-2 years previous experience working with sheet metal or exhibits the aptitude for being trained into the position.
• The ability to use basic measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and other equipment as necessary.
• Has the ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Has the ability to communicate effectively.

Position Responsibilities:

• Plans, lays-out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal parts, equipment, and products.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating and assembling
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls, and routers to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
• Shapes metal material over anvil, block, or other form, using hand tools.
• Trims, files, grinds, de-burrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces using hand tools and portable power tools.
• Qualifies details in a supportive framework according to blueprints using hand tools, power tools, and lifting and handling devices.
• Inspects details for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, scales, gauges, and micrometers.

The Sheet Metal Model Maker is responsible for fabricating prototype stamping and automotive build and assembly metal products, such as framework or shells for machinery, metal component parts for automotive and consumer goods according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints. Develops layout and plans sequence of operations. Employees will be trained up on all tasks and will be considered for hire-in after their time with Workbox!
