Job Title: Manager of Logistics and Inventory Control

Location: Ronkonkoma, NY
Reports to: SVP, Operations

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Overview

The Manager of Logistics and Inventory Control will be responsible for leading staff and overseeing all logistics operations, inventory control, materials management, and distribution activities within the organization. This includes ensuring the accurate flow of products, maintaining inventory levels to meet demand, coordinating transportation, optimizing the efficiency of our supply chain, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in logistics management, inventory control systems, and a Customs Broker License (LCB) to manage international logistics and regulatory compliance effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Logistics Management
    • Oversee the end-to-end logistics process, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution of medical device components and beauty packaging components.
    • Ensure shipment status report and resolution of outbound shipments. Work cross function with sourcing on inbound shipments for appropriate planning.
    • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
    • Manage and build strong relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PL) and transportation partners to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective solutions.
    • Ensure all import operations are compliant with FDA, USDA, and other relevant industry regulations.
    • Act as the primary point of contact and functional expert for customs clearance, overseeing all aspects of international shipments and ensuring compliance with global trade regulations.
    • Expand and manage global distribution network. Providing a higher level of customer experience to our international customers.
    • Carrier negotiations: Billing approvals, Carrier selection, performance management and periodic RFQ’s
    • Manager and control the activity of special logistics programs such as: Foreign Trade Zone, CTPAT, FDA and CBP activity.
    • Management of HTSUS: Code Determination and ERP Database management.
  • Inventory Control / Materials Management
    • Develop and implement inventory control strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing excess stock and stockouts.
    • Oversee regular physical inventory audits, cycle counts, and reconciliation to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Implement and manage an automated inventory system, working with IT teams to optimize tracking and reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure all logistics and inventory operations comply with regulatory requirements specific to the medical device and beauty packaging industries.
    • Maintain accurate records of shipments and distribution activities for audit and regulatory purposes.
    • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logistics and inventory management in compliance with industry standards.
  • Supply Chain Optimization
    • Continuously assess and improve logistics and inventory processes to increase efficiency, reduce costs, standardization pack-outs, and improve service levels.
    • Identify and resolve supply chain bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or issues in coordination with other departments.
    • Work closely with procurement, sales, and customer experience teams to ensure inventory aligns with market demand and customer requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics and inventory professionals, ensuring they have the training and resources to succeed.
    • Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
    • Ensure the team adheres to all company policies, industry standards, and best practices related to logistics and inventory management.
    • Align resources to organizational demands.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Collaborate with sales, procurement, and customer experience teams to align logistics and inventory management strategies to meet business goals.
    • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on inventory levels, logistics performance, and any challenges impacting the supply chain.
    • Develop strong working relationships with external vendors and suppliers to ensure smooth logistics operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in logistics and inventory control, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Strong experience in supply chain management, warehouse operations, and distribution logistics.
  • Proven ability to optimize inventory levels, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
  • Customs Broker License (LCB) is required, with comprehensive knowledge of customs regulations, import/export requirements, and international trade laws.
  • Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., D365) and supply chain software.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA) and compliance requirements in the medical device or healthcare sectors.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and external partners.
