** Summary**
This position is at James A Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Florida under The Chief, Corporate Planning Office.
**Responsibilities**
**The following are some of the major duties and responsibilities , but are not limited to:**
Establishes and periodically updates a resource library of furnishing, office furniture, draperies, wall coverings, floor coverings, finishes, colors, fabrics, etc., from vendors and suppliers.
Incumbent prepares and oversees vendor sketches, perspectives, or detailed plans to scale showing color schemes, furniture, furnishings, and wall dcor for all projects requiring interior design services. Selection is made of all associated items including furniture, furnishings, wall dcor, floor and wall finishes, and signage. An activation budget is provided through control point for the incumbent to ensure project-related costs are maintained within budget.
Monitors, modifies, and maintains an overall directional graphics and signage system for the health care system, utilizing consultants, contractors, and own expertise to meet the requirements of The Directional Graphics Manual for VA Medical Centers. Incumbent provides scope and review to signage consultant(s) as graphics relate to a hospital/clinic environment.
Incumbent is conversant with procedures, practices, and nomenclature of related professional fields required to effectively coordinate and consult with representatives of such fields as lighting, architecture, mechanical, and structural engineering, as well as landscape architecture
Incumbent inspects the physical installation of products in construction projects as related to interior design in order to ensure contractual compliance. Initiates and responds to project-related correspondence. Develops scopes, produces documentation, drawings, specifications, criteria, and cost estimates necessary to procure services or products necessary to activate program moves into new or renovated space.
Deals daily with all levels of management in developing detailed project requirements for a variety of Services, ranging from general administrative to specialized clinical needs. Routinely coordinates activities with such Services as Engineering, Environmental Management, Logistics, and Office of Information and Technology, and schedules both program moves and vendor services to minimize disruption to critical activities of the health care system.
The incumbent is required to do furniture layout and design related to interior design project support for activation to make spaces usable for clients. Additionally, incumbent will also make presentations of furniture layout and designs.
Order products, materials and services, reconciles credit card transactions, and records purchases, ensuring procurements are within budget constraints. Manages and tracks transactions from initial purchase through receipt and/or installation of product. Maintain files of transactions or projects complete with drawings, specifications, budget and cost accounting information, and resource library.
Incumbent uses own judgements, plans, and carries out all successive operations to complete assignments.
Uses a number of guidelines such as performance standards, engineering specifications, technical manuals, VA guidelines, policy instructions, Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations, and industry trends.
Using artistic ability and technical knowledge applies on various software, and pens, pencils, drawing boards, drafting tables, markers, or brushes to create three-dimensional drawings, or design boards for formal presentation. Create a wide variety of imaginative and creative illustrations and designs that cannot be copied. The incumbent, through the design boards or conceptual drawings, must express pictorially meaningful information where there is no model or example of use.
Incumbent must be capable of managing multiple projects concurrently and must identify all resource requirements in advance to ensure seamless planning, development, construction and implementation activities.
Meets the needs of customers both internally and externally while supporting the VA mission. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Handles conflicts and problems in dealing with the customer constructively and appropriately.

Communicate t with all levels of staff within Engineering Service including project engineers, architects, and other designers; architectural engineering firms; consultants; clinical and administrative staff and directors; and vendors and suppliers. As project requirements demand, contact is initiated with appropriate levels of management.

**Knowledge Required by the Position:**
Incumbent must have demonstrated knowledge and capability to fulfill the requirements of this position. Incumbent must deal effectively with Architect/Engineers (AIE's), staff engineers, construction contractors, vendors, and health care system personnel.
The objectives are accomplished through the application of artistic, technical, and architectural techniques and procedures, creative ability, and professional skill and judgement. Incumbent must have extensive knowledge of the use of color (including therapeutic considerations), interior decoration items, construction methods, furnishings, drapery material, and contractual sources.
Incumbent creates appropriate interiors by identifying and/or developing finish schedules, wall surfaces with various textures, materials, and patterns from rough sketches provided by architectural engineers.
Develops drawings needed to finalize plans and specifications and proceeds with recommendations for the selection, procurement, and the placement of furnishings. Applies artistic ability and creativity that will enhance appearance of patient treatment areas through general office environment.
Incumbent must possess knowledge to prepare floor plans and configure furniture layouts using the latest AutoCAD software and/or any 3D modeling software such as Revit. Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design, NCIDQ certified, Architectural or Engineering degree preferred. **Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Florida driver's license Class C or higher.**
