Position: HVAC Service Manager
Location: Des Moines, Iowa market

Position Summary:
We're hiring a Service Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our HVAC service team in Des Moines and surrounding communities. This role plays a key leadership position in technician development, field performance, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong HVAC technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a customer-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Technician Development:

  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of HVAC service technicians
  • Hire and onboard skilled service team members who align with our values
  • Set performance goals and deliver regular feedback and training
  • Foster a respectful, high-performance team culture

Service Operations Management:

  • Oversee the execution of daily service calls in coordination with our dispatcher
  • Minimize downtime, travel time, and return visits for maximum efficiency
  • Conduct field evaluations and ride-alongs to ensure quality of work
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure truck stock is well managed

Customer Satisfaction & Quality Assurance:

  • Act as the point of contact for escalated customer concerns
  • Ensure all work meets R3's standards and exceeds customer expectations
  • Promote our Service Membership Program and maintenance benefits
  • Follow up on completed jobs to verify customer satisfaction

Financial & KPI Management:

  • Monitor labor costs, technician efficiency, and service department profitability
  • Track KPIs such as first-time fix rate, callback rate, and CSAT scores
  • Collaborate with leadership to meet financial goals and service benchmarks

Safety, Compliance & Best Practices:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable local codes
  • Lead safety meetings and job site audits
  • Maintain documentation for service tickets, diagnostics, and warranties

Technical Support & Training:

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance to technicians
  • Stay current on HVAC trends, equipment, and smart home integrations
  • Organize manufacturer-led and in-house training opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of HVAC service experience; 2+ years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of residential HVAC diagnostics and systems
  • EPA certification required; HVAC license preferred
  • Proficiency in service software like ServiceTitan
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills

Working Conditions:

  • Location: In-office at our Urbandale, IA location, with regular field visits in Des Moines and surrounding communities
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Environment: Fast-paced, team-oriented

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Pay based on experience (DOE)
  • Weekly pay
  • Health insurance eligibility begins August 1, 2025
