Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes :
-Student employees will see how a Human Resources (HR) Department functions. HR is the department within the college that is responsible for all things worker-related. That incudes recruiting, vetting, selecting, hiring, onboarding, training, promoting, paying, and firing employees and independent contractors (CD, CM, CT, EI, LD, PF, TW, TC)
-Provide administrative and office support services to the HR department in addition to helpful guidance for HR customers including administrators, faculty, staff, and community members. Exercise discretion in the handling of confidential records and knowledge. Appropriately apply established policies and procedures with escalation to applicable HR team member. (CD, CM, CT, EI, LD, PF, TW, TC)

Candidate Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Other abilities): Qualified candidates will have the following competencies and skills:
- Must be currently enrolled at Oakton College and in at least 6 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semesters.
- Must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher and be in good standing at Oakton College.
- Show proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
- A high level of interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deliver services in an environment where there is an emphasis on customer service is required. Ability to interact professionally and tactfully with people of different levels of education, cultural backgrounds, and life experiences, and to exhibit a high level of respect to fellow employees and the College community at large.
- Strong ability to multitask and prioritize is required.
- Ability to utilize a computer and keyboard to enter, retrieve, and manipulate data is required.
- Ability to effectively use several means of digital communication including document, PDF's, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office software is preferred. Proficiency with Google suite preferred.
