HRIS Benefits Specialist Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (Downtown with some hybrid flexibility and in-office time required)

  • Direct Hire

  • $33 .00 - $42 .00 per hour as new employee (performance raises available, after hire)
  • After hire, additional performance-based increases in compensation can be earned up to $55 per hour

Must have at minimum all of the following :

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources is REQUIRED
  • Minimum – 5+ y ear s of PROGRESSIVE EXPERIENCE IN EMPLOYEE BENEFITS AND/OR RETIREMENT - REQUIRED
  • Health and welfare plan administration experience required
  • Auditing and compliance experience required
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) active certification is strongly preferred
  • In-depth proficiency with HRIS ; specifically, PeopleSoft is required
  • 5+ years of Data Analysis experience
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, filtering and sorting

Purpose of the Position:

HRIS Benefits Specialist will perform detailed and complex technical and specialized work involved in the administration of welfare benefits via the Human Resource Information System. They will interpret and ensure the administration of employer benefits in accordance with the Summary Plan Description and any applicable laws, contractual arrangements and corporate policy.

Successful candidates will have: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources (required), 5+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits and/or retirement (required) with a focus on health and/or welfare plan administration, auditing, and compliance experience. Strong preference for candidates with Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) active certification, in depth knowledge of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and must be proficient with Oracle PeopleSoft .

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance of the HRIS database as it pertains to the proper administration for the retirement and benefit programs
  • Advises management on issues and trends as related to the use of the system.
  • Applies systems knowledge and functionality when researching and correcting complex systems related issues.
  • Coordinates the testing, and oversees the implementation of upgrades, modifications, and customizations to the HRIS benefits application.
  • Create data files as needed for the annual reports, management reporting, statistics, and for ad hoc purposes.
  • Serves as key contact with recordkeeper/administrator on data issues, electronic data transfers, employee inquiries, reporting requirements, and other plan administrative functions.
  • Takes the lead in major projects within the benefits area to redesign current processes, procedures, and programs. Consistently evaluate current operations to ensure the efficient compliant operations of the unit.
  • Assists with training of new department personnel on all departmental procedures, customer service and plans for which the department is responsible as assigned.
  • Assists with development of benefit communications, review of SPD changes, intranet and HRIS updates as needed.
  • Coordinates, implements and conducts open enrollment program.
  • Duties include but are not limited to train and assist staff and Human Resource Representatives on new plans, programs, changes, etc.; develop test cases and coordinate testing of HRIS and IS on all developmental activities.
  • Coordinates the development and tracking of changes associated with open enrollment program. Duties include but are not limited to development and maintenance of benefit program and Info net change matrix, review and updating of display information.
  • Coordinate and work on the development of open enrollment materials as needed based on the changes being implemented.
  • Keeps abreast of changes to IRS code, ERISA legislation and tax law to ensure that plans are compliant.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of the programs for acquired or merged entities on the HRIS database (PeopleSoft) and recordkeeper/administrator
