Job Description

The French American Academy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-Time French, speaking English, Substitute Teacher to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in the French and English languages and a commitment to providing quality education.

The substitute teacher is responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing, and productive learning environment conducive to student success.

The substitute teacher is  required to follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher and deliver instruction effectively while accommodating the diverse needs of students.

If a lesson plan is not provided, the substitute teacher will implement a program to the best of her/his abilities.

It is a full-time and in-house position. When there is no substituting to do, the substitute teacher will be responsible for other educational tasks, including academic support and developing instructional tools.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and effective French and English lessons to students at various levels, from preschool  to middle school
• Maintain the regular curriculum and ensure a smooth transition during the teacher’s absence
• Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing feedback and support as needed
• Collaborate with the teaching staff to ensure continuity in instruction
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Search and develop educational support and tools

Requirements:

• Proficiency in French and English  (Native or near-native level)
• Teaching certification or relevant qualifications preferred
• Previous experience in teaching or tutoring 
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Ability to adapt to different teaching styles and student needs
