Cal OES is recruiting for Limited Term positions and Emergency Hire Appointments in support of the Disaster Response and Recovery efforts in Southern California. Job Summary: Under general supervision of the CAL OES Voice Services and Field Support IT Supervisor II, the ITA is responsible for duties supporting the maintenance of wired and wireless voice and data communications services, managing a supply of telephones for daily staff use, and for use during emergency operations. The ITA is required to inter-act well with all levels of staff including executive. The ITA is also responsible for providing analysis and recommendations related to the agency’s telecommunications services. The ITA will demonstrate an understanding of data processing concepts, practices, methods, and principles, including an understanding of the current evolving industry trends and standards. The incumbent will be required to work in a fast-paced environment on leading edge technology platforms and systems in a team environment alongside other IT professionals. Responsibilities will include participation in the analysis of user needs, systems analysis, functional design, documentation, testing, installation activities, evaluation, user support, and training. Incumbent must have the knowledge and experience in telephone, low and high voltage wiring, data networking (LAN and WAN), Apple and Android phones, Cellular (technologies and protocols).
- Limited Term positions may be appointed up to 12 months or extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.**

- Emergency Appointment (Ehire) will be considered**
- An emergency hire appointment can work up to 189 days in 12 consecutive months, based on the needs of the disaster.
- Positions are paid on an hourly basis, once a month, during the first week of the month following the closure of the pay period. An emergency hire appointment is not eligible for medical benefits or a retirement program.
- Emergency hire appointments earn state service and sick leave and vacation based upon actual time worked.
- Civil Service Examinations are not required for appointment.

Working Conditions This position is Headquartered and reports to the office located in Mather, CA. Must be willing to be deployed for possibly weeks at a time, work out of small spaces and possibly tented areas.
