Job Description

Overview CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. We offer more than 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today. HomeBase provides case management and essential services to at-risk individuals and families to prevent homelessness. Individuals and families receive services that will help overcome problems with public benefits, housing, education, health care and other issues that could impede their ability to maintain stable households. Position details Position: Data Analyst Reports To: Assistant Program Director Location: 1117 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11213 What The Data Analyst Does Prepare reports, analyze and trouble-shoot data for management and funder use. Develop supervisory tools to streamline and improve the database structure Assist in data collection and acquisition. Use data from all sources to develop more precise locations in Brooklyn and Staten Island where outreach efforts should be concentrated. Develop specialized maps, utilizing geographic and demographic information, to identify geographical areas at high risk for insecure housing and inform program outreach strategies. Conduct data cleanup as required. Create visual tools to educate the community at large about homelessness prevention programs. Conduct appropriate and timely follow-up with HomeBase projects. Coordinate with Program Manager and Community Liaisons to identify communities in which to conduct outreach based on data evaluation and mapping. Design benefits-based presentations for community providers, local offices of government agencies, etc. to ensure their awareness of the Homelessness Prevention Initiative. Assist with monitoring, collecting, and compiling daily and monthly outreach plans and targeting data to evaluate efficacy. May conduct outreach to potential clients including but not limited to: community agencies, schools, city agencies, elected officials, religious organizations, legal organizations, public parks, day-care centers, medical/substance abuse/mental health programs, local businesses, and CAMBA in-house programs. Prescreen clients for eligibility and schedule intake appointments. Review all documentation establishing clients’ eligibility, conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and clients’ families, and conduct periodic reassessments. Input client data and client progress information into automated database. Act as ambassador of CAMBA’s services to recruit clients and promote programs. Assist clients in overcoming barriers to participation and navigating program services. Make referrals to relevant services and support clients in engaging with those services. Conduct appropriate and timely follow-up with contacts and all potential clients. Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, sponsors, and stakeholders to expand the program’s reach and impact. Participate in outreach events to represent the organization and promote its programs. Assist in the development and management of the program’s website, annual report and social media platforms to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is available to the public. Collaborate with program staff to create a mega database which incorporates every client under the HB/WFD/R&AS umbrella (possibly in Access or on the HomeBase SQL Server). Complete regular database data entry effectively and efficiently. Write queries for the database that could be used or shared with program staff. Perform reporting for D.A.R.E. dashboard and other annual reports when needed (could be using Excel or SQL). Other duties as required. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in Geography, Computer Science, Data Management, Program Evaluation or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and at least one year of experience. One year of experience in data management. Demonstrated track record of excellence and integrity working with data reporting and verification and survey design for program evaluation. Experience using ArcGIS, QGIS or other geospatial mapping tools, SQL, Salesforce, MS Office Suite. Knowledge of R, Python, Java is a plus. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet critical deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Take initiative, is self-motivated, resourceful, detail oriented, dependable and has strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey program benefits and create client-related documents for diverse audiences. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, such as fractions, decimals and percentages, to practical situations. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Other Requirements Bi-lingual preferred (English and Spanish, Creole, French, Arabic, Ukrainian, Russian) Familiarity with HRA benefits, NYC housing programs, and community resources. Compensation $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 annually. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate, including but not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.
