POSITION SUMMARY
Arrowpoint Corporation, a MorphWorks company, is in search of a
Cybersecurity Engineer Intern to support our team in safeguarding our clients' digital assets and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data and systems. This internship involves assisting in the design, implementation, and management of security solutions, conducting vulnerability assessments, and supporting the response to security incidents. The Cybersecurity Engineer Intern will collaborate with cross-functional teams to help develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices to mitigate risks and protect the organization from cyber threats. This position offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity and learn from experienced professionals in the field.
Requirements POSITION REQUIREMENTS - Assist in the design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance of security infrastructure, including sensors, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and antivirus solutions
- Monitor security systems for signs of intrusion, abnormal activities, or vulnerabilities and assist in taking appropriate actions to mitigate risks
- Support the development and execution of remediation plans to address identified security issues
- Participate in incident response efforts in the event of a cybersecurity breach, including containment, analysis, and resolution
- Assist in developing, enforcing, and updating security policies, procedures, and standards to align with industry best practices and compliance requirements
- Promote a culture of security awareness and proactive risk mitigation
- Stay up-to-date with emerging threats and trends in the cybersecurity landscape
- Assist in incorporating threat intelligence into security strategies and defenses
- Collaborate with IT teams, system administrators, and developers to integrate security into the software development lifecycle and infrastructure design
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
- Coursework or academic projects in cybersecurity, information security, or related fields are a plus
- Industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISM, or CEH are a plus but not required
- Prior internship experience or academic projects in cybersecurity is a plus
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and industry standards with an interest in automation and durable processes
- Familiarity with network security solutions, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and VPNs
- Basic knowledge of information security practices, including system and service hardening, system lifecycle management, and security design review
- Interest in applying machine learning techniques and using machine learning algorithms and tools for data analysis and problem-solving
- Awareness of emerging threats, attack vectors, and how threat intelligence can be incorporated into security strategies
- Familiarity with security tools and technologies, such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), antivirus, endpoint protection, and security analytics tools
- Understanding of encryption algorithms and cryptographic protocols for securing data in transit and at rest
- Awareness of cloud security best practices and an interest in securing cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Interest in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions like Terraform, Pulumi, or AWS CloudFormation
- Understanding of secure coding principles and a willingness to work with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying security concepts and risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to assist in assessing security incidents, identifying root causes, and developing solutions
