Our client is a thriving, multi-faceted general contracting firm that has built a reputation for delivering high-quality projects in both the public and private sectors. With over 100 employees and a strong network of subcontractors and consultants, they've achieved $100M+ in annual revenue. Their portfolio spans across three key business units: Federal/Government projects, Regional Municipal projects, and prestigious international contracts. In the last 3 years, they saw tremendous growth and have a robust project backlog for 2025 and beyond, including multi-million dollar contracts with top-tier clients like the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, and major retail and aviation companies.

They are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join the team and take ownership of exciting, high-profile projects. This role will be based in near Arlington, VA, reporting directly to the Vice President.

Job Description

The Construction Project Manager - Government Experience - Leading GC will have the following responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day activities of multiple projects with budgets up to $30M.
  • Coordinate and communicate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure project timelines, quality, and budget are met.
  • Manage both self-performed and subcontracted work, providing oversight of subcontractor performance.
  • Provide estimates and manage the construction means and methods related to commercial and institutional buildings.
  • Ensure projects comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including maintaining current safety certifications.
  • Monitor and report on project progress to senior management, ensuring timely execution and resolution of any issues that arise.
  • Utilize project management software and other tools to track project status, costs, and timelines.

The Successful Applicant

The Construction Project Manager - Government Experience - Leading GC will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field OR 12+ years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience with a commercial or industrial general contractor, or 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record of managing projects in construction, including estimating and managing subcontracted and self-performed work.
  • Experience with construction methods for commercial and institutional buildings and site work.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in government contracting is preferred.
  • Current OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
  • CQC certification issued by USACE/NAVFAC is a plus.
  • Professional credentials such as Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), or PE in good standing are a plus.
