The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding the department to a higher level of excellence, overseeing all academic and administrative activities, and working to develop and expand the department's vision in alignment with the strategic priorities of the School of Engineering and the University. This role involves managing the department's operations and budget, fostering a culture of equity and inclusive excellence, and leading efforts to grow enrollment, research, and innovation. The Chair will also be expected to develop and expand partnerships, both within the academic community and with external organizations. Applicants for the Chair position must have an earned doctorate in chemical or biological engineering or a related field, with a strong record of scholarly achievement. A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as experience in working with broadly diverse communities, is highly valued. The ideal candidate will have prior administrative experience, a proven track record of collaborative leadership, and a strong background in impactful research and teaching excellence. The role requires a leader who can strategically and responsibly manage resources, encourage philanthropic engagement, and support the professional development of faculty and staff.
