Job Description

Why is This a Great Opportunity?

Accelerated Growth Path: Gain broader responsibility and career progression faster —court appearances, trials, and appeals come early and often.

Substantial Case Ownership: Manage complex litigation matters from start to finish, with meaningful autonomy and hands-on involvement.

Mentorship & Collaboration: Work closely with seasoned attorneys, including a founding member, in a firm culture grounded in shared values and mutual support.

Diverse Litigation Exposure: Tackle a wide range of business litigation across multiple states—ideal for attorneys seeking depth and variety.

Strategic Boutique Environment: Join a deliberately small, high-impact team that values quality over volume, and empowers attorneys to build lasting client relationships.

Strong Cultural Fit for Go-Getters: Perfect for driven attorneys who thrive in a collaborative office setting and want real influence over their career trajectory.

Balanced Workload + Bonus Potential: Enjoy low billable expectations (150 hours/month) with attractive scaling and discretionary bonus opportunities for those who exceed targets.

Job Description:

This role offers hands-on, real-world legal experience in both state and federal litigation. You’ll work closely with experienced attorneys and gain insight into complex legal processes. If you're passionate about litigation and enjoy a fast-moving work environment, this position is a great fit.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle business litigation matters, including contract disputes, commercial conflicts, and corporate issues.

Prepare, review, and file precise legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.

Conduct comprehensive legal research and deliver strategic, analytical insights.

Take and defend depositions, including preparation of clients.

Assist with trial preparation and participate in court proceedings, including hearings and trials.

Manage written discovery processes, including interrogatories, depositions, and document production.

Make court appearances for motions, trials, and appeals, with mentorship provided as experience grows.

Collaborate closely with partners, associates, and staff to achieve outstanding client results.

Balance multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

Case Management: Support all phases of the litigation process, from initial case filing through trial and appeal.

Legal Research: Conduct in-depth research into laws, regulations, and legal publications.

Documentation & Filing: Organize, prepare, and file legal documents such as exhibits, briefs, and appeals; maintain accurate case records.

Trial Preparation: Assist with preparing legal arguments, motions, contracts, and agreements. Summarize depositions, interrogatories, and testimonies.

Client & Witness Coordination: Schedule interviews, meetings, and depositions by communicating with clients, witnesses, attorneys, and third parties.

Administrative Tasks: Draft affidavits, monitor deadlines and calendars, review trial transcripts, and provide general legal support.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Active member in good standing with the Missouri Bar or eligible to waive in.

At least five years of business litigation experience.

Demonstrated proficiency in drafting pleadings, motions, and legal documents.

Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities with a consistent record of quality work.

Experience in taking and defending depositions.

Familiarity with court appearances and trial assistance.

Ability to work effectively in a team-driven, in-office environment.

Excellent organizational skills and a proactive, deadline-focused work ethic.
