Job Description

A Bindery Operator sets

up and operates bindery equipment to cut, fold, trim, and bind printed

materials like books, brochures, and catalogs, ensuring quality and

meeting customer specifications .

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating Bindery Equipment: Bindery Operators use a variety of machines, including saddle-stitchers , folders , cutters , and collators to perform tasks like cutting, folding, trimming, and binding.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Technical Skills: Experience operating commercial bindery (willing to train)

• Setting Up Machines: They are responsible for setting up and adjusting bindery equipment according to job specifications, ensuring the correct size, type, and quantity of stock used
• Quality Control: Bindery Operators perform quality checks throughout the production process to ensure the final product meets customer specifications and standards.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: They may be required to perform routine maintenance on bindery equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and ensure machines are in proper working order.
  
  
• Following Safety Procedures: They must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures when operating machinery and handling materials.
• Production Data Entry: Bindery Operators may be required to enter production data into a computer-based system.
• Assisting with Training: Bindery Operators may be responsible for training and instructing Bindery Associates during job set up and completion
• Other Duties: May include tasks such as collating , inserting , folding , padding , and shipping operations .
• Mechanical Aptitude: Some mechanical skills are needed for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial for ensuring quality and accuracy.
• Physical Stamina: The job can require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy items.
• Ability to Follow Instructions: Bindery Operators must be able to read and understand work orders and follow instructions precisely.
• Teamwork: Bindery Operators often work as part of a team and need to be able to assist others when needed.
