Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic  Assistant GM to oversee daily operations of our bar, beverage services, food hall facilities, and plaza entertainment area. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, have an extensive knowledge of beverage management, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This candidate will also have a strong interest in maintaining and complying with health code standards, creating and managing operating procedures, and working with marketing and sales to generate event opportunities.  This role involves managing bar staff and maintaining high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant GM will play a key role in fostering a neighborhood atmosphere not only at the bar, but in the entire food hall as well, while ensuring operational efficiency and profitability across several important metrics and departments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in high volume bar/restaurant experience, preferably with management experience in these environments as well.
  • Event management experience preferred
  • Ability to stand for 8+ hours and perform all necessary duties of a managerial job in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage a team and handle employee concerns and issues
  • Ability to stay organized, disciplined, focused, and detail-oriented, as the job will require wearing a lot of different hats and managing in a very seasonal environment.
  • Willing to work nights and weekends for a majority of shifts, especially during certain times of the year.

Duties

  • Supervise and coordinate all bar operations, including training, menu creation, beverage service, building customer relationships, etc.
  • Oversee inventory control, including ordering, stock management, and minimizing waste
  • Recruit, train, develop the staff to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards in the bar area
  • Handle budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting related to bar operations
  • Create and oversee operations and employee manuals, training checklists, etc.
  • Oversee shift management, scheduling staff shifts efficiently to meet business demands
  • Assist in menu development, including beverage selection and promotional items to increase sales.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service by addressing guest concerns promptly and professionally. This includes a focused effort on building a regular base and ensuring that the residences within McGregor Square feel valued and at home inside our walls.
  • Help with coordination of all events for the food hall to ensure they are successful and executed flawlessly.

Experience

  • Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality management.
  • Bartending experience
  • Background in bar service management, including supervising teams in fast-paced settings.
  • Experience in managing inventory control, budgeting, training & development, and staff supervision
  • Highly detail-oriented with a passion for event management and curation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with previous roles involving team management, interviewing, training & development, and shift management
  • Familiarity with current bar trends and successful beverage programs preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to lead by example in a hospitality-focused environment
