We are currently looking for an outstanding American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter for a full-time opening in the Charleston, SC area for this 2024-2025 school year!

Requirements :

• South Carolina Certified Sign Language Interpreter
• Previous American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter experience in a school setting

Some Responsibilities:

• Provide  in-person interpreting services between students, teachers, and other school personnel to ensure full access to classroom content and communication
• Assist students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in understanding lessons, assignments, and classroom discussions
• Support students in  both academic and  non-academic settings , including extracurricular activities, meetings, and assemblies
• Collaborate with  teachers and  special education teams to ensure students' needs are met
• Interpret standardized tests, IEP meetings, and parent-teacher conferences as needed
• Provide  cultural mediation and ensure that students are fully integrated into the school environment
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
• Stay up to date with current ASL interpreting practices and educational resources
