Position Summary
Performs a variety of accounting duties including daily back office processes, account reconciliation, and monthly financial reporting. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, supporting schedules and working with reconciliations. Some account analysis, basic system maintenance and administration functions are required. This position works independently to accomplish tasks timely and accurately.

Assumes a shared responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records
Prepares daily entries, monitors account balances and maintains supporting records and files
Performs daily back office processes of member related products
Reviews, monitors, reconciles assigned accounts accurately and in a timely manner, and reports discrepancies to the CFO
Plays an active role in the month end closing duties and reporting
Accurately maintains all assigned accounting records and performs all related accounting functions
Monitors internal controls and reports any determined weakness; including validating company policies and procedures are being adhered to
Applies independent judgement to assigned duties while adhering to credit union policies
Identifies opportunities to improve the accounting processes and plays a key role in the integration of new accounting systems
Ensures compliance with company accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Coordinates month end accounting activities with other departments, divisions and affiliates
Ensures that all accounting entries and reports are completed on a timely and accurate basis
Ensures completeness and accuracy of all account reconciliations
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education:
High School or equivalent
Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred)
Experience:
Two to five years of accounting, general ledger, and financial reporting experience
Experience at a credit union or bank preferred
Specific Skills:
Accurate and detail oriented
Excellent math and communication skills
Strong organizational and analytical ability
Capacity to work effectively and efficiently under time constraints and deadlines continually providing the highest quality service to our members
Ability to handle multiple tasks at different degrees of difficulty, and the competency and willingness to take on additional responsibilities when required
Team player, willing to help others in the department, mature attitude and work ethic
General understanding of Credit Union policies and procedures and standard banking practices (preferred)
