Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Confluence/Jira System Administrator to deploy, maintain, upgrade, and support Atlassian Confluence and Jira environments across various contract programs. The ideal candidate will excel in diagnosing and resolving system-level issues, advising on data architecture, and optimizing tool usage to drive efficiency and modernization. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead cross-tool integrations and enhance the functionality of enterprise-level software environments, ideally within the Data Center version of Atlassian tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, maintain, and upgrade Confluence and Jira environments across multiple programs.
  • Design and refine cross-program data architecture solutions to support diverse needs.
  • Proactively manage Jira/Confluence system infrastructure and oversee testing activities.
  • Implement robust data backup strategies and establish resiliency mechanisms.
  • Audit system logs for compliance and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Gather metrics and generate reports on tool usage to guide future strategies.
  • Provide onboarding, orientation, and training for new teams and users.
  • Guide contract teams on tool usage and future implementation strategies.

Must Haves:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a system administrator for Atlassian tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Atlassian suite features, including dashboards, reporting, data schema, workflows, permissions, fields, and automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Java frameworks, SQL, XML, JQL, and JSON.
  • Familiarity with mitigating system security concerns and vulnerabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Clearance: Active TS or higher required.

Nice to Haves:

  • Atlassian Certified System Administrator or related certifications.
  • IA certifications, such as Security+, are highly desirable.
  • Experience with tool plug-ins and scripting for customizations and automation.
  • Background in creating and building workflows within Jira.
  • Experience working with Jira in a Systems Engineer capacity and interest in becoming a product owner or expert in the platform.


Location: Fairfax, VA

Salary: Competitive, based on experience and qualifications.$130K - $210K
